Jordan Daily – Iran’s envoy to Jordan, Ali Asghar Naseri, defended his country’s military strength and highlighted its economic and technological achievements in a speech on Sunday marking the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Naseri, the charge d’affaires at the Iranian embassy in Amman, said Iran has faced global crises and regional challenges that prompted some media outlets to portray it as only focused on its military power.
He said Iran has attained political independence and self-sufficiency in military industries, as well as becoming a leader in satellite technology, nuclear energy, medical tourism and stem cell research.
He also reiterated Iran’s support for the Palestinian cause and its opposition to Israel’s attacks on Gaza, which he said could spark a wider war in the region, praising the efforts of King Abdullah II to defend the rights of the Palestinians and seek peace and justice in the region.
Naseri noted Iran and Jordan have bilateral relations based on trust and friendship, and expressed hope for further cooperation in the service of common interests and regional security. He also commended South Africa’s initiative to sue Israel in the International Court of Justice.
