Jordan Daily – The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) , concluded on Saturday the 23rd National Olive Festival and the exhibition of rural products, which attracted about 890 exhibitors and 218,500 visitors.
NARC Director General Dr. Nizar Haddad said the festival’s sales reached JD 2.8 million , of which 1.1 million dinars came from selling 174 tons of olive oil , adding that 70 oil suppliers participated in the festival, and 27 of them sold out their stock in the first three days.
He said the festival, which was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and other local and international partners, aimed to support rural women and small farmers, and to promote the quality and diversity of Jordanian olive products.
He also said NARC suspended all cultural activities at the festival in solidarity with the Palestinians, and held an austerity dinner to raise funds for the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, which provides humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.
