Jordan Daily – “Grow Platform” has launched a groundbreaking initiative titled “Choose Your Major,” aimed at guiding and educating high school students about future job opportunities and the essential skills required in various university majors.
This initiative, the first of its kind, seeks to bridge the gap between educational outcomes and labor market demands by providing students with a comprehensive understanding of their potential career paths.
The initiative offers a series of multimedia content, including dozens of informative videos categorized into three main groups: academic experts, business leaders from the private sector, and heads and members of professional associations. Each video presents insights into specific fields of study, the prospects for employment within those fields, and the skills required by the job market.
Fathi Saleh, the managing partner of Al-Taif for Project Management and Development, a member of Ecovis International, emphasized that the main objective of this platform is to bridge the persistent gap between educational outcomes and labor market requirements.
He noted that the job market often evolves faster than educational programs, resulting in a disparity that can last for many years. The platform aims to complement university education by offering students access to additional educational resources during their studies that align with market needs, such as language skills, digital competencies, and personal development.
Saleh explained that by equipping young people with the necessary skills for the workforce, the platform not only addresses the education-to-employment gap but also facilitates the process of securing jobs for graduates. Given that students are currently registering for university and vocational programs, the launch of “Choose Your Major” under the Grow Platform is particularly timely.
The videos, each lasting between two to three minutes, feature contributions from university professors, deans, heads of departments, business leaders, and professional association representatives. These videos provide students with a holistic view of their chosen fields, including potential challenges they may face when registering with professional associations. This comprehensive perspective is designed to help students select a university major that aligns with both their personal skills and future job market demands.
Saleh concluded by highlighting the importance of these videos in assisting students with making informed decisions about their future careers, ensuring they choose a major that aligns with future job opportunities.
