Nizar Haddad resigns as NARC Director General, staff bid emotional farewell

Jordan Daily – In an emotional farewell, employees of the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) bid adieu to their Director General, Dr. Nizar Haddad, following the announcement of his resignation, which was accepted by the Cabinet at his own request.

Dr. Haddad, who led the center for seven years, decided to step down to make way for promising new management. His resignation was revealed only after he completed a rigorous evaluation session with assessors from the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence , demonstrating his commitment to securing the award for NARC.

On the day of his departure, staff gathered in Dr. Haddad’s office until 6 PM, expressing their profound emotions and gratitude. The tears shed were a testament to the significant impact of his leadership on both the institution and their personal lives. The employees reminisced about the substantial achievements that had benefited NARC.

During the farewell gathering, Dr. Haddad disclosed that he will join a major global agricultural company.

Journalist Ali Freihat remarked that Dr. Haddad’s resignation is a significant loss for farmers and NARC staff, praising his role in advancing the agricultural sector and enhancing the center’s operations towards excellence and innovation.

“Dr. Nizar Haddad is an exceptional figure in every sense of the word,” Freihat stated, highlighting Haddad’s ability to lead with remarkable vision and accomplish outstanding successes that have set a high bar.

In a heartfelt post on his personal X account, Dr. Haddad wrote: “With a heavy heart and mixed emotions, I have decided to resign from my position as Director General of the center, embarking on a new chapter in my professional journey to explore new horizons. I aim to serve the environmental and agricultural sectors both locally and internationally, working with one of the leading global companies in agricultural production.”

He added, “What encouraged me to take this step is my absolute belief and confidence that I am leaving behind a distinguished and strong research institution, capable of facing all challenges and performing its mission with excellence.”
