Jordan Daily – Jordan Customs has responded to the demands of the committee formed to monitor the Red Sea crisis on navigation in Aqaba.

The department stated that there is no provision in the Jordanian Customs Law that allows for the installment of customs duties and other taxes. This measure was proposed by the committee to ensure the availability of cash liquidity for importers under the current circumstances.

The department’s response, indicated that traders can benefit from the storage provisions in public bonded warehouses to guarantee  cash liquidity for importing companies.

The response also clarified that the General Sales Tax is deferred according to the law and instructions of the Income and Sales Tax Department.
