Jordan Daily – Taleb Mohammed, Omani actor , has responded to the storm of criticism surrounding his participation in the Netflix film “The Goat Life,” a film that has stirred significant debate, particularly among Saudi viewers on social media.
In a recent interview with Omani radio station “Hala FM,” Mohammed expressed no regrets about his involvement in the film, which has faced backlash due to its portrayal of sensitive issues. “I stand by my decision to be part of this production,” Mohammed said. “This film is a significant artistic and global achievement, and I refuse to be swayed by baseless criticism from those who lack a rational perspective.”
“The Goat Life,” which tells the harrowing story of an Indian migrant worker trapped in Saudi Arabia’s desert under the oppressive kafala (sponsorship) system, has reignited discussions about labor rights in the Gulf. Mohammed, who plays the role of a “sponsor” in the film, stressed that the narrative is based on real events and underscores issues that need to be addressed. “This is a true story that needed to be told, regardless of how uncomfortable it might be,” he said.
Directed by Blessy and adapted from the novel “Aadujeevitham” by Benyamin, the film has sparked a broader conversation about the treatment of migrant workers in the region, with Mohammed urging audiences to look beyond the controversy. “There are open-minded individuals who understand the film’s message,” he said.
“The Goat Life” continues to generate discussion as it streams on Netflix, highlighting the complex realities of the kafala system and the human stories often lost within it.
