Jordan Daily –  A delegation from the University of Petra took part in an advanced international workshop on university sustainability held at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) in Germany from Nov. 24–27, 2025. The event was organized under the “Sustain-JO” project, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The delegation included Professor Wael Hadi, Dr. Ali Al-Maqousi, Dr. Nisreen Al-Atoum, and students Youssef Al-Shanti, Leen Al-Ghabari and Sadeen Al-Khalili from the Faculty of Information Technology.

The workshop addressed several specialized themes, including integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into academic curricula and applying design thinking as an innovation-driven method to develop user-centered solutions.

University of Petra participants took part in training sessions that required them to design an educational activity for a university-level course incorporating sustainability competencies and linking them to SDGs. They also carried out a hands-on exercise using design-thinking methods to propose solutions to a challenge presented during the workshop.

The university said its participation supports efforts to strengthen international collaboration, exchange expertise, and advance sustainability practices within Jordanian higher-education institutions.
