PM Khasawneh inaugurates Classic Fashion’s new Karak factory, 1,000 jobs created

Jordan Daily – Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh inaugurated a new garment factory in the Al-Jdeida area of Karak Governorate on Monday, a project expected to generate more than 1,000 direct jobs. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya, Minister of Investment Khuloud Saqqaf, and Minister of Labor Nadia Al-Rawabdeh.

During the opening, Prime Minister Al-Khasawneh emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting existing investments and creating a favorable environment to attract more, which he described as essential for job creation and local community development. He noted that this focus is a cornerstone of the government’s Economic Modernization Vision.

Al-Khasawneh highlighted the success story of Classic Fashion Apparel Industry LTD CO, which has been investing in Jordan for 21 years, adding significant value to the country’s garment industry. He acknowledged the company’s dedication to expanding its investments in Jordan, calling it a “true success story.”

“The garment manufacturing sector is a key contributor to achieving the targets of the Economic Modernization Vision, providing jobs and driving economic growth,” the Prime Minister said. He also praised the company’s role in supporting local communities by creating job opportunities for Jordanian youth and stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in tackling unemployment.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to achieving the Economic Modernization Vision’s goal of creating one million jobs by 2033. He noted that the Jordanian economy generated over 89,000 jobs in 2022 and more than 95,000 in 2023, bringing the annual job creation rate closer to the Vision’s target despite global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Al-Khasawneh commended the partnership with Classic Fashion Apparel Industry LTD CO, which has expanded its operations across several Jordanian governorates, creating over 6,000 jobs for Jordanians. He praised the company’s role in enhancing the skills and competencies of Jordanian workers and its contribution to reducing unemployment.

During the event, the company Chairman & Managing Director Sanal Kumar provided an overview of the company’s investments in Jordan and globally, along with future expansion plans. He attributed the success of the company’s investments in Jordan to government support, a favorable investment climate, and the stability and security of the country.

The newly inaugurated factory, built on a 45,000-square-meter site, will serve as a central hub for the company’s production facilities in southern Jordan. It is expected to provide 1,000 direct jobs and numerous indirect opportunities, particularly in the transportation and food service sectors.

Classic Fashion Apparel Industry LTD CO, a leading apparel manufacturer in the Middle East and North Africa, operates 20 factories across Jordan, employing around 6,000 Jordanians and producing approximately 500,000 garments daily. The company contributes to 40% of Jordan’s total garment exports.

The company’s factories produce for several renowned global brands and are located in areas such as Anjara, Al-Junaid, Tafilah, Fagua , Busaira , the Jordan Valley, Moab, and Al-Judaidah. The company plans to open a new facility in Al-Quweirah by 2026, which is expected to create about 800 additional jobs.

Globally, Classic Fashion Apparel Industry LTD CO operates in seven countries, including Hong Kong, China, Bangladesh, India, Turkey, the United States, and Jordan. The company which employs more than 32,000 employees in Jordan , also plans to establish manufacturing facilities in Central America next year.
