PM meets Palestinian President at World Economic Forum in Riyadh

Jordan Daily – Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the special meeting of the World Economic Forum currently being held in Riyadh.

Al-Khasawneh reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering support, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, for the Palestinians, pledging all forms of support and assistance to them in achieving their full legitimate rights on Palestinian territory.

The Prime Minister stressed that the only way to achieve peace and stability in the region is to transition to a political horizon according to specific, irreversible timelines, based on the two-state solution leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty over the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Khasawneh highlighted King Abdullah II’s positions, efforts, and contacts for the immediate and permanent cessation of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid widely and sustainably.

The Prime Minister pointed to Jordan’s continued efforts to deliver aid to the Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip through land crossings and through air drops carried out by the Jordanian Armed Forces/Arab Army.

Al-Khasawneh renewed Jordan’s rejection of any attempts or creation of any conditions that could lead to the forced displacement of brothers from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, stressing Jordan’s warning and rejection of any Israeli military operation on the Palestinian city of Rafah.

For his part, the Palestinian President expressed his appreciation and thanks to King Abdullah II for his constant support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is his right to establish his independent state on his national soil along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, appreciating the King’s efforts and contacts for the immediate and permanent cessation of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

He stressed the importance of continuing joint coordination between the two countries to follow up on developments on the Palestinian scene and efforts to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and stop the Israeli attacks in the West Bank and provocations and attacks by settlers on the sons of the Palestinian people.
