Jordan Daily – Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh met with U.S. Acting Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland on Monday and thanked Washington for its vital aid and support.
The meeting, also attended by U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Yael Lempert, highlighted a recent grant agreement to help Jordan’s budget, part of the annual U.S. economic aid program under a strategic pact for 2023-2029, according to a statement.
Khasawneh said Jordan’s economy is showing positive signs despite the impact of regional turmoil, especially the war in Gaza, on sectors such as tourism.
He also briefed Nuland on Jordan’s efforts, led by King Abdullah, to end the Gaza conflict and deliver humanitarian aid, as well as to revive the stalled peace process between Israel and the Palestinians based on the two-state solution.
Nuland praised the king’s role in promoting regional peace and stability and reaffirmed U.S. support for Jordan’s economic reforms and modernization, the statement said.
