Jordan Daily – Prime Minister, Dr. Jafar Hassan, may secure agreements with the U.S. administration to reduce customs tariffs during his official visit to Washington, former Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Jawad Anani said on Monday.
Speaking to local news outlet Ammon, Anani said Hassan could potentially negotiate a cut in tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Jordanian exports, from the current 20% down to 10%.
Anani described the visit as a continuation of the diplomatic and economic efforts led by King Abdullah II, aimed at addressing key financial and economic issues between Jordan and the United States — particularly U.S. aid and budgetary support.
He emphasized that one of the central issues on Hassan’s agenda in Washington is the resumption of U.S. financial assistance to Jordan, especially direct support for the country’s general budget.
