Jordan Daily – Jordan has one of the region’s most advanced and adaptive pandemic response systems, built on cross-sector integration, structured planning and a health system with strong readiness and capacity, health officials said.
Marking the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness on Saturday, which underscores the need to further strengthen preparedness and maintain high response levels based on scientific principles to confront current and future health threats.
Dr. Maisam Akroush said rapid response and prevention are among the most effective ways to confront epidemics, stressing the importance of constant readiness as outbreaks increasingly emerge without prior warning. She noted that environmental changes, food systems, displacement and mass migration linked to conflicts have increased the sources of epidemics.
Akroush emphasised in press remarks raising public health awareness and adopting a unified approach linking human, animal, plant and environmental health as key preventive measures.
She also warned against the misuse of antibiotics, urging the public to avoid taking them without prescriptions to prevent antimicrobial resistance.
