Reopening of Bab al-Hawa crossing to cut costs, boost exports – official

Jordan Daily – The reopening of the Bab al-Hawa crossing for Jordanian trucks, agreed at a trilateral meeting between Syria, Türkiye and Jordan in Amman, will boost regional trade and cut transport costs, a senior transport official said on Friday.

Fares  Abu Dayyeh secretary-general of Ministry of Transport, said in press remarks seen by Jordan Daily, the decision will restore access for Jordanian trucks to Türkiye and European markets, easing logistical hurdles and enhancing the competitiveness of Jordanian exports.

“This step opens wider horizons for our exports, reducing shipping costs and time,” Abu Dayyeh said, adding the move would directly benefit Jordan’s trucking industry and contribute to economic growth.

The Amman meeting, which ended with a technical memorandum, built on earlier bilateral and trilateral talks to advance cooperation in road and rail transport. Abu Dayyeh underscored Jordan’s role as a regional transit hub and highlighted plans to strengthen rail connections with neighboring countries.
