Jordan Daily –  Royal Jordanian Airlines marks its 62nd anniversary since its establishment by the late His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal in 1963, when it was launched to be Jordan’s ambassador in the skies and a representative of its values and messages.

RJ continues today to perform its national role thanks to the directives and support of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who consistently emphasizes the importance of strengthening the position of the national carrier and connecting Jordan with the world according to the highest standards of excellence., the airlines said in a statement received by Jordan Daily .

The Vice Chairman and CEO of Royal Jordanian, Samer Majali, affirmed that the Jordanian state has been, and continues to be, the primary supporter of the company’s journey, as it supports Royal Jordanian and enables it to implement its strategic plans, overcome challenges, and enhance its operational efficiency. He added that the government’s confidence in the role of Royal Jordanian has enabled it to continue modernizing its fleet, expanding its network, and improving its services for passengers, which directly contributes to supporting the national economy, creating job opportunities, and enhancing tourism.

Majali explained that the year 2025 constituted an important milestone in the company’s journey, as Royal Jordanian continued its fleet-modernization program by introducing 19 new aircraft of the A320neo and Embraer E2 types, in addition to continuing the modernization of the Boeing 787-8 fleet and completing work on the first two aircraft as part of a comprehensive renewal plan, while the company prepares to receive its first Boeing 787-9 aircraft at the beginning of 2026. These steps come within a future vision aimed at increasing the fleet size to around 40 aircraft in the coming years to ensure greater capacity to serve passengers and expand networks.

Regarding destinations, Royal Jordanian continued strengthening its regional and international presence by adding new destinations and increasing flight frequencies, raising the number of its direct stations to 55 destinations. The destinations added over the past two years included Damascus and Aleppo in Syria, Benghazi and Misrata in Libya, Casablanca in Morocco, Najaf in Iraq, Mumbai in India, and Washington D.C. in the United States. The company is preparing to open new destinations in 2026, including Hamburg and Munich in Germany, Belgrade in Serbia, in addition to Dallas in the United States, as part of a plan to increase the number of stations to 60 global destinations.

With the directives and support of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Royal Jordanian continues implementing the development project of the new cargo terminal at Queen Alia International Airport, a strategic project whose foundation stone was laid by His Majesty during this year. The project is considered one of the most important national investments aimed at enhancing Jordan’s logistical capabilities and supporting the air transport sector. The value of investment in the project is approximately USD 40 million, and the facility currently provides advanced air cargo services for various types of goods, including medical supplies, perishables, and high-value cargo, through the new medium-range A321 freighter aircraft and the cargo capacity allocated on passenger aircraft.

Royal Jordanian has also strengthened its investments in supporting companies within an integrated framework that supports its core operations. The company owns 100% of the Jordanian Academy for Aviation and Simulation Training (JATS) and has increased its stake in the Jordanian Airline Catering Company to 51% with the aim of enhancing service quality and operational excellence. In addition, it owns 90% of the Jordan Airports Company, which is responsible for operating and rehabilitating Amman City Airport, thereby supporting Jordan’s position as a regional hub for logistics services and air transport.

Majali concluded by reaffirming Royal Jordanian’s commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, supporting Jordanian youth, and promoting a culture of volunteer work, extending his thanks to the board members and the company’s employees and retirees for their vital role in building the standing of the national carrier and strengthening its leadership in the aviation sector.
