Safadi, Blinken agree to reschedule Jordan meeting

Jordan Daily – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs , Ayman Safadi, received a phone call on Tuesday from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which both officials agreed to postpone Blinken’s scheduled visit to the kingdom.

The visit had been planned for Wednesday, but the two agreed to reschedule for a later date to be determined by both sides.

The call also addressed the escalating violence in the region. Safadi emphasized the urgent need for immediate action to halt Israel’s military aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, as well as its illegal actions in the occupied West Bank.

He condemned Israel’s continuing offensive, stressing that there is no justification for its actions, particularly in northern Gaza, where food and medical supplies are being blocked in a violation of international law and humanitarian principles.

Safadi further warned that Israel’s offensive is pushing the region toward a broader conflict, with significant risks for regional security and stability.

The ministers discussed the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and efforts to deliver immediate and sufficient aid. Safadi also reiterated the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and full implementation of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for a cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

Safadi will depart for Paris on Wednesday to attend an international ministerial conference hosted by France. The conference will focus on supporting Lebanon and its sovereignty.
