Safadi calls for de-escalation in regional tensions during talks with European counterparts

Jordan Daily – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, held a series of urgent phone discussions today with the Foreign Ministers of Spain, José Manuel Albares, Norway, Espen Barth Eide, and the United Kingdom, David Lammy, in light of escalating tensions in the region.

The talks focused on the recent dangerous escalation following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine (Hamas). Jordan has condemned the assassination, describing it as a provocative act that risks further destabilizing the region.

Safadi emphasized the urgent need for Israel to immediately cease its aggression against Gaza and halt its violations of international law. He underscored that these actions are critical first steps toward de-escalating a situation that threatens both regional and global security.

He also called for a halt to the Israeli government’s aggressive policies and urged for clear and decisive actions to prevent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right ministers from imposing their agenda of escalation and war on the region.
