Jordan Daily – A video showing Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Al-Shaibani and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, entering a restaurant in central Damascus has gone viral on social media, with many interpreting the move as a public message that Syria is “safe and stable.”
The visit took place during an official trip by Safadi to Syria on Thursday, during which he met with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa. The unscripted moment, captured on video and widely shared by media activists, showed the two ministers walking into the restaurant, visibly surprising patrons in a scene that broke with traditional diplomatic protocol.
Several commentators online said the gesture was deliberate, aimed at conveying a sense of normalcy and security in the Syrian capital. “Shaibani clearly wanted to send a message to the international community that Syria is safe,” one post read.
The rare footage comes amid ongoing efforts by Damascus to restore regional ties and attract foreign engagement following years of conflict and isolation.
