Jordan Daily –  Syria, Jordan, and the United States have announced a joint plan to restore security and stability in Suwayda following the deadly sectarian violence in July that left more than 250 people dead.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani said on Tuesday that the roadmap includes accountability for those behind the attacks on civilians, continued delivery of humanitarian and medical aid, compensation for affected families, the return of displaced persons, restoration of essential services, deployment of Interior Ministry forces to secure main roads, and efforts to clarify the fate of missing persons and secure the release of abductees.

The announcement came after talks in Damascus between al-Shibani, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack.

Al-Shibani noted that the government is preparing a framework for the safe return of those displaced by the unrest, estimated at more than 160,000 people according to UN figures. However, he did not provide details on the timeline or mechanisms for implementing the measures.
