Jordan Daily – Syria and Qatar agreed to supply Qatari gas to Syria via Jordan and to boost cooperation in energy, economy, and finance, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani said on Tuesday, according to state news agency SANA.
Speaking at Damascus International Airport following a ministerial visit to Doha, Shibani said the countries reached multiple understandings. These include technical talks with global oil and gas firms, reactivating the Syrian-Qatari Holding Company as an investment platform, and sending a Qatari economic delegation to Damascus this month.
Qatar will also provide technical support for Syria’s economic reforms, organize training for Syrian officials, and enable Qatari banks to offer correspondent services in Qatari riyals.
Humanitarian and healthcare initiatives were also discussed. The Qatari Red Crescent will send medical equipment and ambulances, while a deal with Mohammed Bin Hamad Holding includes plans for new pharmaceutical factories. Qatar’s health ministry will help build a modern hospital in Syria.
