Jordan Daily – The residents of Qarib al-Shaab, a village near the Jordanian border in the province of Sweida, said they heard explosions and saw smoke rising from the towns of Arman and Malh, where strikes targeted drug dealers and major smugglers.
They issued a statement on Wednesday, rejecting drug trafficking and vowing to cooperate with the authorities to prevent anyone from using their area for smuggling.
Syrian state media confirmed the raids, but did not say who carried them out or what they hit.
Jordan has stepped up its efforts to combat drug smuggling from Syria in recent weeks, as the war-torn country has become a hub for producing and trafficking narcotics.
