Jordan Daily – Taiwan has been ranked the 27th happiest country globally and the happiest in East Asia, according to the 2025 World Happiness Report published by the University of Oxford’s Wellbeing Research Centre on Wednesday.

Taiwan scored 6.669 out of 10, placing it ahead of Japan (55th), South Korea (58th), China (68th), Mongolia (77th), and Hong Kong (88th).

Among the 140 countries and regions ranked, Finland retained the top spot for the eighth consecutive year with a score of 7.736. Denmark ranked second with 7.521, followed by Iceland (7.515), Sweden (7.345), and the Netherlands (7.306).

The rankings were based on average scores of individuals’ self-reported well-being from 2022 to 2024, according to the report.

Other factors such as GDP per capita, life expectancy, social support, freedom, generosity, and perceptions of corruption were also measured to explain variations between countries over time.
