Jordan Daily – The Royal Thai Embassy in Amman, in partnership with Cozmo Supermarket, has launched the annual “Essence of Thailand” Thai Food Week, aimed at introducing authentic Thai cuisine to Jordanians. The event, will run from July 31 to August 3, showcases a variety of traditional Thai dishes, offering Jordanians and residents an opportunity to experience the rich flavors and culinary heritage of Thailand.
Speaking at the event, Supark Prongthura, Ambassador of Thailand to Jordan, emphasized the significance of the event in strengthening cultural ties between Thailand and Jordan. “Every year around this time in the summer, we introduce Thai cuisine to local Jordanians, allowing them to experience the authentic taste of Thai food. This event is not just about food; it’s about connecting the hearts of Thai and Jordanian people, who share warm hospitality and kindness,” he said.
The food festival features daily changing menus that highlight dishes recognized globally by travel and fine dining magazines. Notable offerings include Massaman curry, celebrated as the best in the world, and Mango sticky rice, acclaimed as one of the finest desserts globally, Ambassador Prongthura noted.
Maher Shakhatreh, President of the Jordan Thailand Friendship Association, highlighted the cultural exchange fostered by the event. “Thailand is known worldwide as the ‘Kitchen of the World’ due to its renowned cuisine. This festival allows Jordanians to learn about and enjoy Thai dishes, bringing them closer to Thai culture and traditions,” he remarked.
Imad Bukhari, CEO of The Group, Cozmo, expressed his commitment to providing customers with unique experiences. “This is the second time we’re hosting the Thai food festival. It offers our customers exposure to different foods and cuisines, allowing them to taste and learn how to make Thai dishes. It’s about rewarding our customers with a memorable experience,” he noted.
Lubna Wardeh, a social media influencer known for her platform “Eat with Lubna,” attended the event to promote cultural awareness. “Thai cuisine is special because of its diverse flavors, including garlic and ginger. It’s fascinating to see how these elements come together to create a whole meal experience,” she commented.
Chef Saddam Da’ajah also participated, emphasizing the distinctive qualities of Thai food. “Thai cuisine is rich in spices and ingredients, offering a variety of flavors that everyone should try. We’re here to introduce people to more dishes and share the uniqueness of Thai food,” he said.
The event was well-attended by foreign ambassadors, citizens, residents, and invitees, all eager to explore the tastes of Thailand. The opening ceremony at Cozmo’s 7th Circle branch marked the beginning of a week dedicated to celebrating Thai culture through its culinary arts.
