Jordan Daily – Professor Theib Oweis , a Jordanian scholar, has been honored by the International (SCHOLAR-GPS) for his significant contributions to the fields of water and agriculture.
Dr.Oweis was ranked third globally in those fields, ninth in water resource management, and eighteenth in irrigation. Overall, he was rated among the top five per ten thousand scientists worldwide.
The ranking was based on the number of peer-reviewed scientific publications, the impact through the number of citations, and the exceptional quality of research results at the global level.
Dr. Oweis holds a Ph.D. in Water and Agricultural Engineering from American universities. He has served as a professor at the University of Jordan, a distinguished professor at Tottori University in Japan, and as the director of Water, Land, and Ecosystem programs at the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA).
He has made significant contributions to the development of water harvesting systems, supplementary irrigation, water productivity concepts, and water management in agriculture in dry and water-scarce regions.
