Tourism projects launched in Ma’an

Jordan Daily – Ma’an Tourism Department carried out a number of tourism projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities with funding from the southern governorate’s budget, according to department director Yasin Salah.

In an interview with Petra on Tuesday, Salah said that the JD300,000 Al-Shobak Castle road project was completed, adding that the infrastructure project will help boost tourism in the region and raise tourist numbers.

He also said work is underway on a JD30,000 electric vehicle park at the Al-Shobak Visitors Centre. The facility had received six electric vehicles as part of Royal Court Initiatives to promote tourism and serve visitors to the site.

Salah pointed to another project to develop Al-Shobak Visitors Centre, noting that his department had put a tourism promotion scheme to prop up tourism in the region.

He also said that work is underway to maintain facilities at the King Abdullah II Park in Maan at the cost of JD15,000. The park, which houses a museum and a handicrafts center, is a destination for local families, tourists, and students.
