Tourism sector employs nearly 58,000 people in Jordan, mostly males

Jordan Daily – According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the tourism sector employed 57,969 people by the third quarter of last year, with males making up 87% and females 13% of the workforce across 3,341 establishments.
The data also showed that the number of workers in the sector grew by 1.4% from the second quarter, when there were 57,162 employees, 87% of whom were male and 13% female, across 3,300 establishments.
Most of the workers, or 74%, were based in the capital Amman, where 42,893 people were employed in the tourism sector.
The tourist restaurant sector has the largest share of workers, with 23,017 employees, followed by the hotel sector, with 20,120 employees. In the second quarter, the hotel sector has the most workers.
