Turkish Airlines Golf Cup kicks off at Ayla Golf Club

Jordan Daily – The Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, one of the globe’s premier amateur golf tournaments, kicked off Friday at Ayla Golf Club in Aqaba, drawing top amateur and professional players from around the world.
Sixty golfers from countries including Jordan, the UK, Scotland, Thailand, France, Spain, and the United States are competing in the qualifier, part of a global series leading to the tournament’s grand finals, Ayla Oasis said in a press release received by Jordan Daily.
“Ayla is proud to host this prestigious tournament in partnership with Turkish Airlines,” said Sahl Dudin, the Managing Director of Ayla Oasis Development Company. “This reinforces our standing as a global golf destination and supports the development of professional talent in Jordan.”
The 18-hole championship course, designed by golfing legend Greg Norman, is Jordan’s first of its kind. It spans 800,000 square metres and features undulating fairways, crystal-clear lakes, and eco-conscious design. The course recently won four accolades from the 2024 Sustainable Luxury Awards for its sustainability efforts.
This marks the second time Ayla hosts the qualifier, following a successful edition in November 2024. Winners from Ayla and other global qualifiers will advance to the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Grand Final.
Dudin highlighted the event’s importance for local players, saying it “offers a rare opportunity for Jordanian golfers to compete internationally and helps build a generation of skilled athletes.”
Ayla has become a regional hub for golf, having previously hosted the world’s first mixed-gender professional tournament and the MENA Tour’s “ Journey to Jordan Tour Championship.”
