Jordan Daily – The U.S. Embassy in Jordan bids a warm farewell to Ambassador Henry T. Wooster, whose three-year tenure saw remarkable strides in the U.S.-Jordan relationship.
The U.S. Embassy said on twitter that , during his tenure, Ambassador Wooster’s visionary leadership resulted in numerous achievements that bolstered the partnership between the two countries.
Some of the notable highlights of Ambassador Wooster’s tenure include the signing of the largest and longest Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Jordan and the United States, amounting to an impressive $10.5 billion. This landmark agreement has paved the way for further cooperation and growth between the two nations.
Additionally, Ambassador Wooster’s commitment to preserving Jordan’s rich cultural and historical heritage was evident through over $2.5 million invested in preservation efforts at various sites across the country.
The U.S.-Jordan commercial relationship also flourished under Ambassador Wooster’s guidance, reaching an impressive $6.3 billion in bilateral goods and services trade in 2022. This boost in trade has undoubtedly strengthened economic ties between the two nations.
Furthermore, Ambassador Wooster played a pivotal role in facilitating the signing of the F-16 sales agreement, the largest military sale in Jordan’s history. This agreement not only strengthened Jordan’s defense capabilities but also solidified the security cooperation between the two countries.
Education was another area that received special attention during Ambassador Wooster’s tenure. A total of 21 schools were built, and over 10,000 classroom hours of English were provided to more than 2,500 students throughout Jordan, emphasizing the importance of fostering a skilled and educated workforce for the future.
Amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Wooster’s dedication to the well-being of Jordanians was evident through the provision of over 500,000 COVID vaccines. Moreover, his efforts led to the resumption of normal consular operations, resulting in the most significant visa-issuing year in the history of Embassy Amman.
