UK student delegation visits Jordan to explore educational tourism opportunities

Jordan Daily – The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) , in coordination with the Jordanian Embassy in London, hosted a student delegation from the United Kingdom as part of the UK-MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Network from August 18 until Sunday.

The delegation comprised students and graduates from prestigious institutions, including Oxford University, King’s College, and the London School of Economics.

According to a statement from the JTB , the visit was part of a strategic collaboration with the Jordanian Embassy to promote Jordan as a destination for educational tourism among British university students.

During their visit, the delegation met with Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology, Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh, Senator Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Majed Qatarneh, and Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board.

Discussions centered on the economic impact of Jordan’s tourism sector, with a particular emphasis on the potential for educational tourism among British students, especially in areas such as Arabic language studies and archaeological exploration.

The delegation expressed their willingness to establish partnerships with British universities to promote Arabic language programs in Jordan. They highlighted their capacity to identify students interested in Middle Eastern studies, Arabic language courses, and archaeology programs.

Additionally, the delegation showed interest in organizing informational sessions and presentations at UK universities like Oxford, King’s College, and the London School of Economics. These initiatives aim to engage students and faculty members interested in study abroad programs in Jordan, thereby strengthening cultural ties between the United Kingdom and Jordan.

The UK-MENA Network aims to enhance cultural understanding and strengthen cultural relations between the United Kingdom and the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
