Jordan Daily – In a tragic incident on Friday, a high-ranking official from the World Food Program (WFP) was assassinated in southern Taiz by gunmen riding a motorcycle, according to Yemeni medical sources.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victim, Muayad Hamidi, who had a temporary Jordanian passport, was ambushed as he exited a restaurant in Turbah, Taiz. The assailants unleashed a hail of bullets at Hamidi, who had recently arrived in the city to assume his duties as the head of the WFP team.
The assassination occurred near the al-Shamayatain Security Department in Turbah. Immediately following the attack, Hamidi was rushed to Khalifa Hospital in al-Turbah; however, his wounds proved fatal.
