UNICEF, Bank al Etihad host green job fair to connect youth with sustainable career opportunities

Jordan Daily – UNICEF, in partnership with Bank al Etihad and the Business Development Center (BDC), hosted the Green Job Fair today at Al-Hashemite University. The event connected young people with potential employment opportunities within the green economy while supporting Jordan’s transition to a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.

The opening ceremony was attended by President of Al-Hashemite University, CEO of Business Development Center (BDC), UNICEF Chief of Adolescent and Youth, and representatives from the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Labour, along with representatives from Bank al Etihad, UNICEF said in a statement.

Following the ceremony, students and new graduates met with more than 30 employers and career development organisations specializing in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, green construction, environmental innovation, and other sectors driving sustainable growth in Jordan and the region.

Alongside the employer exhibition, young participants attended interactive workshops focused on job-search and employability skills. The sessions covered writing and interview techniques, pathways into sustainability and green careers, and personalized career counselling with certified advisors. Mental health and wellbeing support was also integrated into the programme, reflecting UNICEF’s commitment to support young people holistically as they enter an evolving and competitive labour market.

The Green Job Fair is part of wider efforts by UNICEF to strengthen collaboration between Jordan’s academic and private sectors and to address youth unemployment by supporting job readiness, broadening partnerships, and creating new pathways for young people to engage in the green economy across the country, the statement noted.
