Jordan Daily – A student team from the University of Petra secured second place at the Arab-level Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence Challenge held recently in Dubai.
The team, known as “NeuroTouch,” from the university’s Faculty of Information Technology, had earlier won first place in the Jordanian national qualifiers with their project: smart gloves designed to assist in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease patients.
The IEEE Jordan Section honored the team during its annual general meeting, presenting them with a Shield of Excellence in recognition of their achievement in health-focused IoT and AI applications.

“The team’s accomplishment marks a significant milestone in the advancement of medical technology innovation in Jordan and showcases the Kingdom’s growing capabilities in IoT,” said Dr. Mousa Al-Akhras, Chair of the IEEE Jordan Section, during the award ceremony.
Team NeuroTouch includes students Jana Al-Najjar, Malek Awad Khalil, Khalil Al-Ustaz, and Al-Baraa Al-Khalayleh. The project was supervised by Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Banna.
