Wahbeh collection highlights Arab artistic diversity

Jordan Daily – A significant exhibition showcasing contemporary Arab artists from the private collection of Hasan and Ica Wahbeh was inaugurated on March 10, in the presence of Haifa Najjar , Minister of Culture and a number of foreign ambassadors.

At the opening, Hasan Wahbeh said the collection features a diverse range of works by Jordanian and other Arab artists, reflecting the vibrant art scene in Amman, particularly influenced by the influx of Iraqi, Syrian, and Lebanese artists.

He expressed gratitude to the EU Delegation in Amman and attendees, highlighting the intent to showcase a representative sample of Arab art to a broader audience.

Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, the EU Ambassador to Jordan, commended the Wahbehs for their longstanding support of Arab artists and their curation of an impressive art collection spanning the Maghreb, Levant, and Gulf regions.

The EU delegation’s involvement in the exhibition underscores a shared commitment to promoting cultural understanding and supporting the arts within the Arab world , Chatzisavas noted.

Minister Najjar said the exhibition’s message aligns with themes of humanity and beauty, standing in contrast to injustice and aggression. It features a wide array of artistic styles, techniques, and schools, representing a significant selection of works by Jordanian and Arab artists.
