Jordan Daily – Jordan will see the gradual return of low-cost carriers Wizz Air and Ryanair later this month, Tourism Minister Imad Hijazin said on Sunday.
Wizz Air will resume flights on the Budapest–Amman route from Aug. 26, operating twice weekly year-round. The airline will also expand operations in the 2025/26 winter season with four direct European routes to Aqaba’s King Hussein International Airport from Katowice and Warsaw in Poland, Bucharest in Romania, and Sofia in Bulgaria.
The upcoming winter schedule will feature the largest network of direct low-cost connections to date, linking Jordan with 18 European cities through carriers including Ryanair, Wizz Air and Eurowings, all from Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, the Ministry said in a statement received by Jordan Daily.
Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat, the Managing Director of Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), said flights will gradually roll out between Sept. 16, 2025, and March 2026, with plans to extend into the summer season. Destinations include Milan, Paphos, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Vienna, Budapest, Stuttgart, Prague and London.
He added the expansion will strengthen Aqaba’s role as a hub for beach and winter tourism, while boosting arrivals to major sites such as Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, noting the move is part of efforts to revive tourism flows affected by regional tensions and improve Jordan’s competitiveness as a global destination.
Arabiyat said the increase in low-cost routes will help raise visitor numbers from Europe and support the national tourism strategy by making Jordan more accessible to key source markets.
