Jordan Daily – Irish Foreign Minister Simon Harris on Friday urged the EU to adopt sanctions against Israel, saying words of condemnation over the Gaza war were “clearly not enough.”
“The time for words of condemnation must end,” Harris told reporters ahead of an EU ministers’ meeting. He called for using provisions in the EU-Israel Association Agreement, which found Israel “absolutely in breach of its human rights obligations.”
“There are 10 different areas that Europe has identified where sanctions or measures could be taken against Israel,” he said, urging action to secure a ceasefire, humanitarian aid and the release of hostages.
