Jordan Daily – In her remarks at a conference on Wednesday, Fotouh Younes, Executive Director of the Arab Network for Civic Education (ANHRE), emphasized the importance of advancing sexual and reproductive health rights for vulnerable groups in Jordan.
Speaking during the “Enhancing Sexual and Reproductive Health Policies for the Most Vulnerable in Jordan” event, Younes praised the efforts of the King Hussein Foundation’s Information and Research Center in organizing the gathering, which highlighted the achievements of the “We Lead” program.
Younes described “We Lead” as an initiative focused on empowering young women whose sexual and reproductive health rights have been neglected. The program, hosted by ANHRE and led by the Dutch organization Hivos in collaboration with five coalition members, is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Fund (SRHR).
She noted that the program aims to create systemic change by strengthening the capacity of local organizations, raising community awareness, and ensuring that healthcare providers are better equipped to address the needs of women and girls, particularly those from marginalized groups.
Younes also highlighted the program’s efforts to influence public policy by working with civil society organizations and decision-makers to improve legal protections for women’s sexual and reproductive health rights.
ANHRE, as the host of “We Lead,” is committed to offering technical support, fostering collaboration, and providing resources to partner organizations, Younes said, stressing that ANHRE sees itself as an active partner in driving change.
Younes concluded by thanking local and national partners, Hivos, and the advisory committee for their roles in the program’s successes, and expressed optimism for the conference’s outcomes.
