Jordan Daily - Jordan’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Akram Harahsheh, strongly condemned attacks targeting the kingdom and Gulf Arab states, calling them a “flagrant violation” of international law and national sovereignty.

Addressing the UN Human Rights Council on Wednesday, Harahsheh said Jordan’s armed forces had intercepted more than 240 missiles and drones launched by Iran toward its territory since Feb. 28, while security agencies dealt with over 414 falling projectiles. He added that 24 civilians were injured.

Jordan welcomed the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, submitted jointly with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, describing it as an important step reflecting broad international consensus against the attacks and in support of regional stability.

He stressed the need to halt hostilities, prevent further escalation and prioritize diplomacy and dialogue to ensure collective security.

Harahsheh also urged the Human Rights Council to express solidarity with affected countries and adopt a draft resolution by consensus, reaffirming the universality of human rights amid attacks on sovereign states not party to armed conflict.
