Jordan Daily - Indonesia on Wednesday strongly condemned the placement of the “Rising Lion” banner by Israeli forces over the ruins of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, calling the act “a highly provocative act” that “cannot be justified.”

In a statement, seen by Jordan Daily Indonesia’s foreign ministry said, “The use of military symbols and propaganda over the ruins of a destroyed hospital, especially when linked to a specific military operation, is a highly provocative act and cannot be justified.”

“The Indonesian Hospital is a civilian facility dedicated solely to providing medical services for the people of Gaza, not a place for military propaganda or intimidation,” the statement added.

The hospital, built from donations by the Indonesian public, represents what the government described as “the solidarity of the Indonesian people for the Palestinian people.” Jakarta said the incident “is an insult to a humanitarian facility.”

Indonesia reiterated that “hospitals and all medical facilities must be respected and protected under international humanitarian law.”

It also called on Israel “to stop all actions that violate the protection of civilian infrastructure and to ensure accountability for attacks against medical facilities in Gaza.”
