Jordan Daily - Jordan and Azerbaijan signed agreements on Wednesday to exempt each other's citizens from visa requirements and expand cooperation in the energy sector, as the two countries sought to strengthen bilateral ties and boost trade, investment and tourism.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku, where the two officials reaffirmed the strong fraternal relations between their countries and discussed ways to broaden cooperation in the economy, energy, investment and tourism.

The ministers also reviewed progress following the Jordanian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation meeting held in Baku on Nov. 26 last year, stressing the need to build on its outcomes through practical steps aimed at increasing bilateral trade, economic cooperation and mutual investment.

Safadi and Bayramov co-chaired the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

The two ministers signed an agreement allowing visa-free travel for citizens of both countries, saying the measure would encourage tourism, facilitate business travel and strengthen people-to-people ties.

They also signed a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation, which they said would help deepen collaboration in the sector.

In addition to bilateral relations, the ministers discussed regional developments and underscored the importance of supporting efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote security and stability across the region.
