Brazilian Cooperatives step up cooperation with NARC

Jordan Daily – The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) has emerged as a hub for Brazilian agricultural cooperatives looking to adopt innovative agricultural practices and study climate change research, water use efficiency, and Jordan’s non-conventional water use methodologies.

As part of an initiative to bolster bilateral agricultural ties, a delegation from the Brazilian Agricultural Cooperative Castrolanda visited yesterday NARC, following a visit three months earlier by the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Cooperative Society, led by Mr. Marc Miyazaki.

Director General of NARC Nizar Haddad announced NARC’s research team readiness to share and exchange the results of scientific research with agricultural bodies and associations.

Haddad highlighted the innovative ideas and pioneering projects that would contribute to expanding cooperation horizons with Brazilian cooperatives , expressing his expectations that this cooperation would make a significant impact on the agricultural sector by translating these innovative ideas into practical and tangible projects.

In a comprehensive discussion, Haddad conversed with the delegation about potential areas for collaboration and how they could benefit from the Agricultural Innovation Incubator’s experience, a first of its kind in the region, and the National Seed Bank’s pivotal role in preserving genetic diversity and biodiversity in Jordan amid climate change.

He mentioned potential cooperation opportunities in enhancing water use efficiency, raising the product’s added value, and the development of plant and animal varieties and strains, despite the lack of water resources.

Eric Peter, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Agricultural Cooperative Castrolanda, expressed his deep appreciation for the remarkable progress NARC has made among a group of global research institutions specialized in agricultural sector development. Peter praised the center’s advanced infrastructure, pioneering laboratory services, and the agricultural innovation incubator, which serves as a core for continuous development and modernization in the agricultural field.
