Government announces public holiday to mark Prophet’s Birthday

Jordan Daily – Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh announced that Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, will be a public holiday in observance of the Prophet Mohammad’s birthday

The directive states that all ministries, government departments, public institutions, official universities, municipalities, joint service councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and government-owned companies will close on Monday, which corresponds to the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the Islamic calendar year 1446.

The order exempts ministries and public institutions that need to remain operational.

The prime minister also urged all ministries, government departments, and public institutions to take an active role in highlighting and appropriately celebrating the occasion.
