NARC hosts workshop on Smart Agriculture using IoT

Jordan Daily – On October 6th 2021, the National Agricultural Research Center hosted a conversational workshop entitled “Smart Agriculture using Internet of Things (IoT)”, and was presented by Dr. Hassan Migdadi; an expert professor in Smart and Artificial Intelligence

After an intensive briefing of IoT, and how it’s integrated with other technologies like cloud computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) and its role paving the way for many new and exciting innovations, Dr. Migdadi highlighted the challenges faced by agriculture and farmers, and showed how high technologies (like Industrial IoT) would play a crucial role in advancing agriculture to result with sustainable agriculture in many cases such as smart greenhouses and smart precision livestock farming

Dr. Nizar Haddad, the Director General of NARC, commended on having such a conversational workshop targeting the researchers of NARC of different disciplines and specialties, emphasizing that it was a workshop with an added value with modernized terms and conceptual forms of technologies that can be widely applied within NARC research

The workshop was concluded with an exciting brainstorming discussion between NARC researchers and the Dr. Migdadi, to be an inception of a research collaboration to come up with science-based recommendations to reach the national goal destined to achieve “Sustainable Agriculture in Jordan”
