Jordan Daily – Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources launched an online platform on Sunday to showcase investment opportunities in the country’s mineral, oil, gas and oil shale resources, aiming to attract local and foreign investors and boost the mining sector’s contribution to the national economy.
The platform, invest.memr.gov.jo , provides information on the locations, technical reports and licensing procedures of various mineral resources, such as basalt, silica, gypsum, diatomite, kaolin, dolomite and feldspar, as well as oil and oil shale projects.
Energy Minister Saleh Al-Kharabsheh said the platform is part of the ministry’s efforts to highlight the national wealth and exploit it in line with the economic modernization vision, which classifies the mining sector as a driver of high-value industries and fast-growing exports.
He added that the government is keen to encourage investors to establish transformational industries based on mineral resources to increase the added value of the extracted ores.
The platform also links investors with relevant government agencies, such as the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, the Department of Lands and Survey, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Local Administration, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, to facilitate the licensing process and reduce the time required for investment applications.
