Pharmacists , insurance companies reach consensus on new framework

Jordan Daily – Dr. Mohammad Al-Ababneh, the head of the Pharmacists Syndicate, announced the agreement on new principles governing the relationship between the syndicate, representing community pharmacies, and insurance companies , departments, and funds. The following are the key principles that have been agreed upon:

Clear regulations will be established for the payment of financial claims to pharmacies.

  1. The discount rate will be reduced to 3% as of January 1, 2024, and certain medications may have a zero discount rate.
  2. Any pharmacy found violating the agreed principles and engaging in speculative practices will have their insurance contracts terminated by all insurance agencies.

Al-Ababneh expressed his appreciation for the serious and responsible dialogue that took place under the auspices of the Governor of the Central Bank and the Insurance Department.

He acknowledged the cooperative and understanding stance of the representatives from the Federation of Insurance Companies, who showed willingness to cooperate and understand the syndicate’s demands and perspectives.
