Jordan Daily – The Phenix Center for Economics & Informatics Studies, through its Jordanian Labor Watch program, is launching its annual media campaign to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, observed on November 25 each year.
The 16-day campaign aims to highlight the economic violence faced by many women in Jordan, including workplace violations and discrimination, particularly in wages and employment opportunities. It also seeks to raise awareness of women’s economic and social rights, and to emphasize the importance of increasing their economic participation by ensuring a work environment that supports them and prevents their withdrawal from the labor market.
The campaign will feature messages on social media, ranging from educational content about women’s economic and social rights in Jordan to recommendations and alternative policies designed to improve working conditions and create a more supportive environment for women.
The initiative underscores the critical need to boost women’s economic participation, as one of the key challenges facing the Jordanian economy is the extremely low level of female participation in the workforce. This issue places additional strain on the economy and deprives it of untapped productive capacities.
