Sofia University achieves international accreditation success

Jordan Daily -The Bulgarian national television, general manager Mr Emil Koshlukov, supported Bulgaria’s work with Africa and the Arab countries, which it considered a model of high diplomacy between the countries of the European Union and the Council of the Arab League and teaching in Arab universities and each university separately.

The University of Sofia has achieved great success in terms of global accreditation and Sofia Kliment Ohridsky University has received three accreditations for its MBA programs from the leading accreditation agency AMBA. Thus, the University of Sofia Bulgaria is among the top 300 educational institutions for business studies in the world.

The department is striving to attract more foreign students and meet the modern needs of business for quality education and qualification of employees.

For the first time, the three master’s programs in English in business administration at Sofia University can be obtained on international accreditation from AMBA.

“It includes the Faculty of Economics and Sofia Kliment Ohridsky University among the top 300 business schools in the world – only about 2% of universities in the world have this accreditation,” said Prof. Atanas Gerzhikov, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University.

“For the first time, a Bulgarian educational institution has received such accreditation, which means setting the highest level of standards,” said Professor Ivan Angelov, Head of the MBA Program at the Faculty of Economics at Sofia Kliment Ohridsky University.

The university hopes to attract more students from abroad. For example, Iraq alone, there are hundreds of graduates united in a special association – the Association of Graduates of Bulgarian Institutes and Universities, and here “the most important message is that education can become part of foreign policy.

Professor Todor Yalamov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University, pointed out to many Sofia University graduates from Arab countries, especially those with nostalgia for the past, that many parents who graduated in Bulgaria in the seventies and eighties are now recommending that their children come to study in Bulgaria.

Anastas Terzobalev, a graduate of the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University and an expert on Middle East and African affairs, said that, for example, there are many graduates from Bulgarian universities now in administrative leadership positions in all fields – Sofia University graduates from Arab countries from Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Iraq. Syria, Sudan, Yemen and also from most African countries hold high government positions, which indicates the level of education in Bulgaria.

Sophia University is actively working on educational exchange, and in recent months cooperation agreements have been concluded with Iraqi Kurdistan and the Kingdom of Jordan.

The ceremony was attended by the Honorary Consul of Jordan, Professor Dr. Hassan Al-Baramawy, and gathered diplomats from many Arab embassies and leaders of all Arab organizations in Bulgaria from Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya diplomatic culture attashe present in Bulgaria and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as guests of honor at this solemn ceremony.

It is noteworthy that the semester fees for master’s programs range from 2000 to 4000 BGN, also depending on the nationality of the student.
