Jordan Daily - The U.S. Embassy in Amman issued a security alert on Tuesday urging American citizens in Jordan to remain vigilant and consider available options to depart the Middle East as tensions in the region remain high.

In a notice sent to U.S. citizens, the embassy said there were no changes to mission operations or departure options at this time but that officials were closely monitoring developments across the Middle East.

“We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East closely and will keep you updated so you can make decisions about your safety,” the embassy said in the alert.

The embassy added that the U.S. government was prepared to assist Americans seeking to leave the region by providing information on available departure options, including commercial travel.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio consider the safety and security of American citizens the government’s top priority, the statement said.

The embassy warned that Iran has carried out attacks on civilian locations across the Middle East, including hotels, airports, embassies and other civil facilities.

Americans who remain in the region should be prepared to shelter in place if necessary and ensure they have supplies of food, water, medication and other essential items, the embassy said.

U.S. citizens are also advised to closely monitor their email for updates or last-minute changes and to follow instructions from local authorities and guidance from U.S. diplomatic missions, the embassy noted.
