Jordan Daily - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, on Wednesday affirmed that Jordan deals with regional developments in a manner that serves its national interests, while safeguarding its security, stability and the safety of its citizens.
In an interview with Al-Mamlaka TV, Safadi said that the Iranian embassy in Amman continues to operate, with a chargé d’affaires and diplomatic staff currently present.
He noted, however, that Jordan had declined to extend the stay of one Iranian diplomat and refused to grant accreditation to another, describing the decisions as a clear message reflecting the Kingdom’s position on Iranian policies.
Safadi stressed that relations with diplomatic missions are governed by political considerations, reiterating that Jordan remains committed to efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability.
He added that, prior to the war, the Kingdom had demonstrated openness to engaging in dialogue with Iran with the objective of building positive relations, provided that Tehran ceases practices that threaten the security and stability of Jordan and Arab countries.
