Jordan Daily - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Saturday inaugurated the Dead Sea Corniche and tourist beach projects to mark Jordan’s 80th Independence Day, the Prime Ministry said.

The Dead Sea Corniche project spans around 600 dunams and includes a 1.2-km promenade, cycling track, family seating areas, sports and entertainment zones, children’s playgrounds and an outdoor theatre with capacity for about 2,500 people.

The site also features landscaped green spaces, service facilities and parking for more than 1,200 vehicles. During the inauguration, Hassan instructed officials to speed up the completion of additional sports courts before the summer season.

About 7 km away, the upgraded Dead Sea tourist beach project covers around 240 dunams and includes a sandy beach, four swimming pools, restaurants, retail shops and parking for more than 650 vehicles.

The public beach, reopened after being closed for over seven years, is currently attracting around 35,000 visitors per month, according to the statement.

The developments are part of Jordan’s efforts to improve domestic tourism infrastructure and public services in the Dead Sea region.

In addition to the Dead Sea Corniche and the tourist beach, the newly completed developments include an 8-kilometre-long round-trip cycling track designed to support sports and recreational activities in the Dead Sea area.
