Jordan Daily - Australia's Ambassador to Jordan, Paula Ganly, has begun a 23-day push-up challenge aimed at raising awareness of mental health and helping reduce the stigma surrounding it.

The ambassador's goal is to complete 3,307 push-ups during the challenge, a figure chosen to reflect the number of Australians who died by suicide in 2024. The initiative seeks to encourage conversations about mental health and highlight the importance of support and prevention efforts, the Australian Embassy in Amman said in a Facebook post seen by Jordan Daily.

On the first day of the challenge, Ganly completed 100 push-ups, marking an initial step toward the overall target.

The opening milestone also draws attention to research showing that spending as little as 10 minutes walking in green spaces can have a positive impact on mental well-being.
