Jordan Daily - China's defense attaché to Jordan said on Wednesday that the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) would continue to modernize ahead of its centenary next year while reaffirming Beijing's support for peaceful development, regional stability and a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue.
Speaking at a reception marking the 99th anniversary of the founding of the PLA, Senior Colonel Li Pengfei said China would achieve the PLA's centenary goal in 2027 by further modernizing its national defense and military capabilities.
Li said the PLA would provide "strategic support" for what he described as the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and contribute to global peace and development.
Addressing international affairs, Li said the Middle East remained a source of concern amid ongoing tensions. He said China opposed actions that infringe on the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of other countries, adding that military conflict was not the solution to disputes and warning against further regional escalation.
Quoting Chinese President Xi Jinping, Li said China remained committed to peaceful development and to building what Beijing describes as "a community with a shared future for humanity."
Li praised Jordan, under King Abdullah II, as a stabilizing force in the Middle East and said China is ready to strengthen coordination with Amman to promote regional peace, stability and development.
On the Palestinian issue, Li said the only fair and broadly recognized solution is the two-state solution, adding that China would continue to support the Palestinian people's legitimate national rights and international efforts aimed at achieving justice and lasting peace.
